WALKING TOUR IN MONACO OLD TOWN AND MONTE CARLO

Description

The Principality of Monaco which is famous for its casino and the rich who gamble there and its Prince’s Palace, is located on a rocky promontory overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The size of the second smallest State in the World is completely walkable and you will be able to discover the old Town, the port, the Formula 1 race track and Monte Carlo. 

It is also possible to get on a public transport (ticket excluded) for a short ride from one place to another.

Itinerary

Let’s start the walking tour either at your hotel, at the train station or at the Casino Square (other meeting points are possible).

Visit the renowned Casino, one of the oldest still active casinos in the World. Discover the glamorous inside (tickets excluded) and enjoy the beauty of this fascinating « Liberty » style of its architechture of the 19th century.

Discover the gardens and terraces around from where you will be able to take wonderful pictures of Monaco.

Walk down to the port along the F1 race track and admire the yachts on your way. After a 30 minutes walk, we will reach the rock of Monaco on which is located the old town.

There you will discover one of the main historical monuments, the Grimaldi Palace where some of the rooms (Throne room), the inner court with a monumental staircase and the reception hall can be visited between May and November (tickets excluded).

On the other end of the old town you may have the opportunity to visit the Cathedral, built between 1875 and 1884 under the direction of the architect Lenormand.

We will also stop in front of the very impressive building of the Oceanographic Museum which was directed by the famous « man with the red cap », Jacques-Yves Cousteau from 1957 to 1988.
